Flourish ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Flourish is operated by Kian King, trading as Flourish Companion. You can contact us at support@flourishcompanion.org for any privacy-related query.

What information we collect

Information you give us

Account details — your email address and any name you provide when signing up.
Study data — subjects, goals, study sessions, quiz answers, journal entries, planner content, and anything else you input while using Flourish.
Payment information (Pro subscribers only) — handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store or have access to your full card details.

Information collected automatically

Usage analytics — how you interact with the app, which features you use, and general session activity, used to improve Flourish.
Approximate location — we may collect general, non-precise location data (such as country or region) to personalise content and understand where our users are based. We do not collect or store your exact GPS location.
Device and technical data — browser type, device type, and similar technical information needed to make the app work properly.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, under any circumstances.

How we use your information

To provide and personalise the Flourish service, including your AI study companion, study plans, and progress tracking.
To process payments for Pro subscriptions via Stripe.
To communicate with you about your account, updates, or support queries.
To understand usage patterns and improve Flourish over time.
To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or technical issues.

AI processing

When you use the Flourish AI study companion, your messages are processed by Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. We do not use your conversations to train AI models, and your study data is not shared with Anthropic beyond what is necessary to generate a response to you in the moment.

Payment processing

If you subscribe to Flourish Pro, your payment is processed securely by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Flourish does not store your card number, expiry date, or CVV. Stripe's own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data, available at stripe.com/privacy.

Who we share data with

Supabase — our database and authentication provider, used to securely store your account and study data.
Stripe — for processing Pro subscription payments.
Anthropic — to power the AI study companion feature.

We do not share your personal data with any other third party for marketing or advertising purposes.

How long we keep your data

We retain your account and study data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal or accounting purposes (such as payment records).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request a copy of your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, email support@flourishcompanion.org. We will respond within one month, as required by law.

Children's privacy

Flourish is designed to be used by students of all ages, including those under 18. If you are under 13, you should only use Flourish with the involvement of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect more personal data from children than is necessary to provide the service.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. If you have accepted analytics cookies, we may also use these to understand how Flourish is used. You can manage cookie preferences through the banner shown when you first visit the site.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
